Humanitarian Impact
Currently, over 1,200 PARAGUAYAN campesinos (farmers) and Indians have been trained and certified to organically grow and process loofah products. The fabricating facility in Paraguay employs local women who hand-process, sew and finish the products and package them for shipment.

Project funding from ECOFUND and THE NATURE CONSERVANCY along with a percentage of all proceeds received from the sale of Loofah-Art' products are used by OPIC, a local nongovernmental organization in Paraguay.

These funds have contributed to the growing and cultivating of loofah in Paraguay and are benefiting over 6,900 individuals and offer 50 times more income than traditional cotton and grain harvesting! Consequently, this is helping to save the land from further deforestation and ecological erosion, to build schools and to provide much needed medical care, and decent living conditions.

A portion of these funds also support a Paraguayan endangered wildlife shelter that has saved the lives of many animal species that have been illegally imported or rescued from illegal exportation.
